The Light of the World
“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be light, bringing out the God colors in the world.”

Morning light greets us as we awake from sleep. Sunlight yawns a yellow blaze across a new-day sky. A candle shimmers in the darkness whispering quiet wisdom as we pause to reflect in early light. Sacred glimmer from a loved one’s eyes meet ours as we offer each other a good morning wish.
Light is all around us waiting to be seen. Waiting to behold. Waiting to embrace us with its imagination, its joy, its love.
We live in light. We are surrounded by light.
We are the people who have walked in darkness, the people invited to see the great light. Do you see it? The light?
The light is all around us. The light is in you. The light is in me.
The light is the wisdom we have been gifted with which radiates truth in our hearts. Each time we see wisdom’s light within us and act with love from the truth of who we are we radiate the light to others. We become the light—the wisdom-bearer— for others.
Perhaps that’s the message proclaimed by Christmas. We are the light. We are goodness. God has chosen us to embody God’s self in the world in and through us.
We are pregnant with God and God is pregnant with us creating new life and love.
We are what’s right with the world as we co-create with God becoming God’s flesh for the world.
