You Got Art!

Each of us is gifted with an artistic talent, a creative spirit, which is an integral part of being human.  Our divine nature yearns for us to create!

Some sing, draw, paint or write.  Others knit, sew, sculpt, or shoot photography.

Whatever our creative spirit is, when we find it and practice it, we discover a connection to our soul, a bridge between our thoughts and heart. An escape from the noisy din of the world.

The creative spirit within us is often like a tiny voice, asking us to set it free so it can laugh, play and make sense of the world again.  It’s a pathway to the uncensored part of us that’s willing to ask the deeper questions about life, truth, and things that go bump in the night.

Author Flannery O’Connor ruminates, “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.”

O’Connor’s words capture the essence of our creative spirit reminding us there is a muse inside each of us able to touch a sacred place within from which our art is created. When we touch that place giving it expression we feel alive, whole, and free.

Our art not only serves to connect us to our deeper selves, it can also inspire, encourage and help shape and mold other’s lives.  When we share our art with the world we become vulnerable.  We risk sending out to the world the message our hearts spoke to us as we engaged in our art making.  Our art then becomes an act of courage.  A willingness to express what and how we perceive the world. A spark. A seed that changes the world like every tiny flower rearing its springtime head.

Art in return evokes emotions, thoughts and responses from those who view it, giving each of us the freedom to receive its message, allowing it to change our perception, our worldview one word, one brush stroke at a time.

There is a creative spirit inside of you, begging to be set free.

Nourish it. Feed it.  Let it set you free.
